The Message Service Monitor is a script that Netlinx developed to provide customer visibility into the performance, operation, and support of the Alcatel-Lucent VitalQIP Message Service.  Statistics from the VitalQIP Message Service are collected and stored in a database.  With this tool you can quickly see when there are heightened VitalQIP Send Rates, Queuing of VitalQIP Messages, and/or when Dynamic DNS latency is occurring.

So, if you are troubleshooting Dynamic DNS issues, there is no better tool to help you identify and fix the issue.  The Message Service Monitor can work with a wide variety of network monitoring and management platforms through SNMP, log scraping, and a number of other customizable message formats and interfaces.  The Message Service Monitor can be used standalone as a command-line tool or be installed and integrated into the Netlinx IPAM Web Portal.

The Message Service Monitor provides the following:

• Dynamic DNS Latency - know when Dynamic DNS Updates begin to lag during propagation
• Message Queuing - identify systemic failures in your DDNS update service
• Elevated Dynamic DNS Update Send Rates - know when your DDNS facilities are being overrun by mis-configured network elements.
