DHCP Monitor
dhcp-icon The DHCP Monitor is a monitoring tool that takes an automated feed from your IPAM system and systematically checks that DHCP servers are operational in your firm's environment.  There is a big difference between a running process and a functioning process.  Therefore, it is not enough to test that the DHCP service is running on a remote IPAM DHCP Server.

You must test not only that the service is up and running, but that it is operating properly and providing DHCP addresses on the network.  Our DHCP Monitor interfaces with a wide variety of network monitoring and management platforms through SNMP, log scraping, and a number of other customizable message formats and interfaces.  The DHCP Monitor can also be deployed as a standalone command-line based utility or be installed and integrated into the Netlinx IPAM Portal.

The DHCP Monitor provides the following tests:

  • DHCP Service Availability on Primary and Failover - checks for proper DHCP operation
  • DHCP Service Latency - checks for network or DHCP server latency

When incorporated into the Netlinx IPAM Web Portal, the DHCP Monitor plug-in provides extensive real-time reporting, charting, graphing, and alerting capabilities.  As a command-line utility the DHCP Monitor tool can be a powerful troubleshooting ally, helping you quickly pin point issues with your DHCP server environment.
